From Stories to Science
Long before science, we had stories. Through twelve intricate illustrations and accompanying snippets, explore the dark tales and legends we once used to make sense of the world. From the taming of volcanoes to the fossils behind our mythical creatures, learn about the science that eventually replaced them.
Stunning Wall Art, Month After Month
A year of artwork, science, and kurzgesagt for your walls. Every piece is vibrant, bold, and beautifully printed on high-quality paper. Each month brings an incredible new illustration to transform your wall into a scene of science and wonder.

"When brainstorming this year’s theme, we considered how complex the world really is. We still can’t explain everything today, so how did people do it in the past? Illustrating these concepts that go beyond what a camera could capture gave us a lot of creative freedom. Each illustration was carefully conceptualised and designed, and we aimed to make the artworks very detailed so that something new can catch your eye throughout the entire month." Teddy, Head of Illustration |
Made by Humans, for Humans
Behind every page is a team of real people: researchers digging into myths, writers shaping stories, and artists illustrating each unique legend by hand. Every detail (and there are many!) is there for a reason. Creating this calendar takes a year of hard work, but it's become our statement against mindless AI slop.
Fund Another Year of kurzgesagt
Each calendar purchase funds independent science communication, giving our researchers, writers, and artists the time and care to make meaningful, high-quality work. Thanks to you, we can keep making free educational videos for millions, crafted with love and curiosity.
What Other Birbs Think
L
You can really tell how much creativity, and passion went into every single illustration in this calendar. What makes it even more special is knowing that the artwork was created without AI. You can genuinely see and feel the love and dedication behind every little detail.
Each illustration has so much depth that you could spend ages exploring and interpreting all the different layers of meaning. Or you can simply sit back and enjoy the beautiful artwork.
Definitely a must-have :)
Thank you so much for appreciating our work 🥹 We are so glad you are enjoying each illustration as much as we do!

What a marvellous piece of art. High quality per usual. I’m so glad I could get my hands on one of the calendars before it sold out! I wasn’t so lucky last year.

With minor exceptions, I've been getting the calendar every year since the beginning. Now I also get 1 for my nephews that became fans of the channel. As a fan of custom things and a Graphic designer, I appreciate the work and effort to provide the quality result.
Your Human Era Calendar Collection looks superb! Thank you for passing on this tradition to your loved ones, means a lot❤️

The Human Era Calendar has been a staple in my home since the inaugural 12,017 edition, and every year they manage to surpass the last with incredible new stories and outstanding original illustrations. I found this year's topic particularly exciting. Showcasing ancient myths and explaining how scientific reasoning solved them is especially meaningful in our current era of misinformation. I look forward to next year's calendar and will happily continue supporting Kurzgesagt's work!
Coming from an ongoing supporter since the beginning, this means a lot! We are so glad we achieved to exceed your expectations once again. Hope you and your home enjoy each months legend in the coming Human Era year ✨

It's simply awesome! It was a present for my mother and she enjoyed it so much.
