How It All Started
We started out as a small studio with a dream to inspire people all around the world. But we soon found out that creating elaborate videos for free is a really bad business model. It was tough but our dream of inspiring people all around the world kept us going.
A Calendar That Changed kurzgesagt Forever
In 2016, we created the first Human Era Calendar! It sold out within a few hours and went on to kick-start the kurzgesagt shop! It also enabled us to grow our team, improve our video quality and research standards, and still release our videos for free for everyone.
Representing A New Year Zero
Our calendar starts with when humans first worked together to shape the world. Approximately 12,000 years ago, we laid the foundations for civilization. The Human Era Calendar rewinds history to include everyone.
